Stedman: So, what’s your guilty pleasure?
Pearl: Oh gosh, this is embarrassing… romance novels. What’s yours?
Stedman: Stealing people’s hair and eating it like spaghetti.
Pearl: I have to use the restroom real quick. Excuse me.

Most people use the term to describe something they shouldn’t enjoy doing but they do, and to that I say, Don’t feel guilty! Enjoy your copy of Forbidden Southern Night Romance Westchester, the latest winner from Bodrina Huntington.

So I have list of some of my own innocent pleasures. I define it as anything I crave that others merely pass over. It’s the little things in life I can’t let go of, and I dont want to.

1. Cheese-It almost doesn’t matter what kind.  Give me a block of cheese and some Ritz crackers (optional), and I’m set for the evening.

2. Board games-I will always want to play a game of Monopoly.  Please don’t ask me to play unless you have the next 6 hours available.

3. Hot pockets- every day for lunch in Middle School, I would have two hot pockets to stick in my school cafeteria microwave,* and part of me wishes this had never changed.  My wife doesn’t understand.  Oh, and not the Ham&Cheese.  Only Pepperoni.
4. Breath spray-who doesn’t want fresh breath?  Somebody said nobody uses Binaca anymore.  You can blow out the smoke!  Apparently this and lip balm went by the wayside about six years ago, but oral hygiene is still an obsession of mine.

5. Books where magic is real-LOTR, Narnia, Harry Potter, … I’ve read them all, and I can’t get enough.  My Kindle iPhone app is a veritable treasure chest of largely-unheard-of fantasy stories.  Check out these titles: His Majesty’s Dragon, Assassin’s Apprentice, The Briar King, Eldest, Eragon, Full Moon Rising, The Legends of King Arthur, all of the Twilight books…Don’t even get me started on Avatar.

6. Nicolas Cage- I love to hate him, but all of his movies are so dang enjoyable!   Both National Treasure movies seem like they were made to be put on TNT to distract me from football on the weekends.
